Let's Talk about You!
I assume that if you're reading these words right now you are probably experiencing some type of difficulty in your life.
I also realise that you may be thinking a variety of thoughts right now- 'Maybe a Psychologist is not for me', 'Am I in the right place here?', 'What would people say?', or 'I can't be that bad'- and I can definately understand why you might want to postpone the inevitable or tackle this in private with a self-help book. But in some cases, you just can't. And unfortunately, the self-help books are not always designed for you and your life specifically.
So let's try a little exercise. I'm going to give you a list of questions. What I'd like you to do is count up the number of times you agree with one of these questions. You may not know if you agree right away, so try to feel any sensations inside
of you as you read them. This will give you an indication of how much you identify emotionally with each question.
The more times you catch yourself saying "yes" or even subtly agreeing with the statement in an emotional way,
the more you will start to realize that you really are in the right place here, that you don't have to face these
issues alone, and that you are now in excellent hands.
So here are the questions, are you ready? By the way, these are real life examples of typical issues I have dealt with right here in the UAE- so you are not alone. Let's begin.
In any given moment of your life, are you:
on so you can have some closure?
up inside with no one to talk to about it?
the effects of withdrawal?
it as your lot in life?
that arise, so as not to disturb the delicate balance of the feelings of others?
well being, and quality of life?
with no psychological or emotional help, or feeling like a number in the medical system?
negatively for breaking your silence?
overwhelming need for control etc)
